Professor John Cordery

Vice Chancellor, Curtin University

Professor John Cordery has held the position of Provost at Curtin University since July 2015.  Professor Cordery came to Curtin from the University of Western Australia, where he was Professor in Management & Organisations within the UWA Business School and held a range of leadership positions, including as Chair of Academic Board.  At Curtin University, Professor Cordery has overarching managerial responsibility for the four Curtin teaching Faculties, campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Mauritius as well as the Office of Strategy and Planning.

Professor Cordery holds a BSc from the University of Otago, an MSc from the University of Canterbury, and a PhD from the University of Sheffield.  His research focuses primarily on ways of maximising the effectiveness of groups and teams in organisations.  This research has been supported by multiple grants from the Australian Research Council and from industry.  Professor Cordery’s research has been published in the leading international journals in both management and applied psychology.
