Julian is an environmental scientist with over 20 years’ experience working in the environmental consulting sector. Over the past 14 years he has been the Managing and Technical Director of Astron, one of Australia’s largest independently owned ecological and environmental remote sensing consultancies. Julian is also a Co-Founder in the industrial imaging and analytics company C4D Intel which in 2019 was partially acquired by Terra Drone, the world’s leading industrial drone solution provider. He is also the Founder and CEO of Emapper, an environmental data and analytics platform which uses drones, satellite imagery and IoT sensors to monitor environmental outcomes, and in 2018 was granted $2.4M in funding through the Federal Government Industry Growth Centre METS Ignited.
An avid surfer, Julian lives in the Margaret River Region where he is the Chair of the Augusta Margaret River Shire Council Sustainability Advisory Committee and Founding Chair of the Climate Action Augusta Margaret River Working Group. In 2019 he was instrumental in organising the inaugural Climate Action Summit during the Margaret River Pro in conjunction with Surfing WA, the World Surfing League and the Augusta Margaret River Shire Council.
